Most buyers never see how an order actually moves through a plant. They see a quote, a proforma invoice and then a container photograph some weeks later. This update records the five working stages of one 54 MT order of fused silica sand and powder, from sampling to the second container being closed.
What was in the 54 MT shipment?
The order covered two product forms in three particle sizes. The figures below are the facts of this shipment, recorded as they happened rather than taken from a general datasheet.

Mixing sand and powder in one order makes the loading plan the difficult part, not the production. Sand and powder are packed separately, and the sequence on the loading floor has to keep both product forms together without exceeding the weight and volume limits of each container.
How was the schedule compressed into five days?
The order was confirmed on 3 September and loading was completed on 8 September — five working days. That interval only works when the material is already produced, inspected and packed, and when the packing list is fixed before the containers are booked.
In practice three things had to line up at once. Stock had to match the requested particle sizes, so no waiting for a production run. Packing had to be ready in FIBC jumbo bags in the agreed fill weights, so the bags were labelled and staged before the loading date. And the booking had to be in place early, because a two-container order cannot be loaded the same week it is booked.
The sampling was then fitted into the sequence rather than added to the end of it. The first photograph in the gallery shows a sample being drawn on 6 September, while packing was still being staged, so the check could happen without holding up the loading date.
What did the pre-shipment check cover?
Sampling on 6 September produced a labelled sample bag for the material in the shipment. Each sample bag records the product, the particle size, the lot number, the source bag number, the production date and the sampling date, and is signed off by the Chemsize QC.
The point of recording the source bag is traceability. If a result is ever questioned, the sample can be traced back to the specific bag it came from instead of being an anonymous handful of powder. That is also what allows a buyer to compare what they receive against what was inspected before dispatch.
The check itself was run on the bench before the material went to the loading area — particle size verified against the ordered specification, with the sample bags laid out and weighed in sequence, and the sand held for a close visual check of colour and grain form. The second and third photographs in the gallery show the weighed sample bags and the 30–50 mesh sand in the weighing pan.
Loading the two containers
Loading was completed on 8 September. The two containers were loaded with the FIBC jumbo bags placed to keep the sand and the powder separated by container, so each container can be reconciled against its own packing list on arrival.
This is the stage where a shipment of this size is usually lost. Two containers mean two packing lists, two sets of bag markings and two loading sequences, and any mismatch between them surfaces at the receiver's gate rather than at the loading bay. Keeping each container matched to one product form removes most of that risk before the doors are closed. The fourth and fifth photographs in the gallery show the loaded container and the stacked FIBC bags inside the second container.
Is a five-day turnaround normal?
No — five days was the result for this particular order, not a standing lead time. It was possible because the specification was standard, the material was in stock, the packing was already staged and the booking was made in time.
Realistic lead time depends on what you ask for. A standard particle size from existing stock can move quickly. A custom particle-size distribution, a different packing format, a first-time grade trial or a peak booking season will each add time.
